Li-ion Battery also known as Lithium-ion battery is the latest inventions of rechargeable batteries. Today, Li-ion batteries are found in most of the consumer electronics items such as mobile phones, camera’s etc. Once you buy a Li-ion battery, it can last for more than 1 year whereas the conventional non-rechargeable primary batteries which has to be disposed of once the battery is drained. You can find primary batteries used in Torches, wall clocks etc.

Once a Li-ion battery is fully charged, it can take many hours before it is completely discharged, after which you will have to use the battery recharge which is available in the Li-ion Battery Pack to recharge the battery. Today, Li-ion batteries are also popular in electric operated vehicles and aerospace operations. These batteries require very low maintenance. Always remember to recharge Li-ion batteries once the battery is completely drained out or when it is in the final stage of getting drained out. This is to ensure longevity of the battery once they are charged.

Semiconductor is a material that has intermediate electric conductivity in magnitude between conductor and insulator, which means it has an electric conductivity ranging from 103 to 10?8 Siemens/centimeter.

Semiconductors have a great impact to the modern society. It can be found in transistors and microprocessors. Silicon is the most common and familiar semiconductor as most of the transistors and chips are created with it. Today, Silicon is considered as the heart of electronic devices.

Let us take a look at silicon to understand the structure of semiconductors. If you look at the position of Silicon in periodic table, you will see that Carbon, Silicon and Germanium occupy in the same column and the elements of this column have a unique property in the atomic structure. Each of the elements has 4 electrons in their outer orbital which allows them to form crystals. The four electrons in the outer orbital of an atom form perfect covalent bonds with other four neighboring atoms, building a lattice. The crystalline form of Silicon is a metallic-looking substance.

Metals have been good conductors because they have free electrons that move between the atoms and the flow of electrons creates electricity. The Crystalline form of Silicon looks metallic, but in fact, they are not metals. The outer electrons of silicon cannot move around because they are involved in forming perfect covalent bonds. Pure Silicon Crystal has a little ability to flow electricity.
